The Ontario government has approved Ontario Power Generation's plan to refurbish four Candu nuclear reactors at Pickering, clearing the way for a start to the execution phase of the project, subject to final regulatory approvals.

Romania's nuclear energy giant Nuclearelectrica has signed a EUR540 million (USD634 million) financing contract with a banking syndicate led by JP Morgan for the refurbishment of Cernavoda Unit 1 and a EUR80 million loan for the next stage of the Cernavoda unit 3 and 4 project.
