China looks set to start lifting its ban on the import of Japanese fishery products after reaching an agreement with Japan for the independent monitoring of the discharge of treated water from the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant by China and other countries.

Tests that simulate the temperatures and pressures which the reactor systems will be subjected to during normal operation have been completed at unit 1 of the Taipingling nuclear power plant. The unit is the first of six Hualong One units planned at the site in China's Guangdong province.

The generator stator has been hoisted into place at the ACP100 small modular reactor demonstration project at the Changjiang site on China's island province of Hainan, China National Nuclear Corporation has announced.

The uppermost sections of the steel containment vessels of two nuclear power reactors under construction in China - Sanmen unit 3 in Zhejiang province and Haiyang unit 3 in Shandong province - have been installed, China National Nuclear Corporation announced.

China's State Council has approved five nuclear power projects - Xuwei Phase I, Lufeng Phase I, Zhaoyuan Phase I, San'ao Phase II and Bailong Phase I - with a total of 11 reactors.
