Visions shortlisted for new UK nuclear project

Shortlists of architects and landscapers have been selected by NuGen for the forthcoming Moorside nuclear power plant's surroundings, visitors centre, office blocks and workers accommodation.

Two competitions were run, one with the Royal Institute of British Architects, and another with the Landscape Institute. NuGen CEO Tom Samson said: "We have had an overwhelming response, both in terms of numbers and the level of creativity in the designs."

Entries were solicited from organisations worldwide and selected for the shortlist by NuGen with the help of local people as well as celebrated architect Terry Farrell and Paul Tiplady, former chief executive of the Lake District National Park Authority. "The architecture and landscape community have embraced the challenge and have delivered some thoughtful, considered and visually breath-taking proposals for our Moorside project. We've narrowed the entries down to five - but we're very keen to hear what the public think of our selection," said Samson.

The full list of shortlisted architects is: C.F Architects, Faulkner Browns Architects, Graeme Massie Architects, K2 Architects, Reiach and Hall Architects, William Matthews Associates. The landscapers are: Aecom Infrastructure and Environment Ltd, Estell Warren Ltd, HEPLA in association with HarrisonStevens, Iteriad, Stephenson Halliday and Charles and Lily Jencks supported by Atkins Engineers, One Creative Environments.
