Request to operate Forsmark 2 at increased power
Forsmark Group AB has applied to the Swedish nuclear regulator to operate permanently unit 2 of the Forsmark nuclear power plant at a higher power level. The unit has been in trial operation for the past two years following a 12% power uprate.

Two more Japanese reactors approach restart
Two units at the Takahama nuclear power plant have moved one step closer to restarting following final approval by the Japanese regulator of changes in the reactor installations. They become the third and fourth reactors in Japan to gain such permission.

Khmelnitsky 1 prepared for licence extension
Ukraine's Energoatom plans to prepare a "safety justification" report for its application to extend the operating life of unit 1 of the Khmelnitsky nuclear power plant. The licence for the VVER-1000 unit, which started commercial operations in 1988, expires in 2018.

Uprate approved for Ringhals 4
A power uprate of unit 4 of the Ringhals nuclear power plant has been approved by the Swedish nuclear regulator. The uprate will increase the unit's generating capacity by some 175 MWe.
