Reactor vessel on way to Rostov 4
OMZ subsidiary Izhorskiye Zavody has shipped the reactor pressure vessel for unit 4 of the Rostov nuclear power plant to the construction site. The reactor vessel, which is being transported via the River Neva, is expected to reach the site by 20 June.

Installation under way of Taishan 2 steam generators

Russia's MBIR gets construction licence
Russian regulator Rostechnadzor has issued a construction licence for the multipurpose sodium-cooled fast neutron research reactor, or MBIR by its Russian acronym. The reactor complex will be located at the site of the Research Institute of Atomic Reactors, in Dimitrovgrad.

TVO to miss Olkiluoto 4 licence application deadline
Finnish utility Teollisuuden Voima Oyj (TVO) does not plan to submit a construction licence application for the fourth unit at its Olkiluoto plant before its 2010 decision-in-principle expires next month. The company had earlier sought an extension to that decision.

Tractebel Engineering becomes owner’s engineer for Pallas
Belgium's Tractebel Engineering has signed a contract to be owner's engineer for the planned Pallas research reactor to be built at Petten in the Netherlands. The facility will replace the existing High Flux Reactor that has been in operation since 1961 and take over its role as a major supplier of the world's medical radioisotopes.

Construction has officially started on unit 5 of the Fuqing nuclear power plant in China's Fujian province, China National Nuclear Corporation announced today. The unit will be a demonstration Hualong One reactor, a design the company aims to export.
