More contracts awarded for Hinkley Point C
EDF Energy has today announced further preferred bidders for the project to construct the Hinkley Point C nuclear power plant in the UK. The combined value of the contracts is some £1.3 billion ($2.0 billion).

Eletronuclear drawn into Brazil corruption probe
The president and CEO of Eletronuclear, Othon Luiz Pinheiro da Silva, has been arrested in connection with construction contracts for Angra 3. It comes as the 16th wave of police action in a wide-ranging investigation of corruption in Brazil.

Russia puts back power supply dates for new reactors
Russia's Market Council has approved the postponement of power supply agreements for new nuclear reactors in line with changes to their commissioning dates. During a visit to the construction site of Leningrad II, Rosatom head Sergey Kirienko said this meant the contract for the first unit of that plant would thus take effect on 1 January 2018.

First criticality for Fuqing 2

Kudankulam units achieve construction and operation milestones
The Atomic Energy Regulatory Board announced that construction of unit 2 of the Kudankulam nuclear power plant in India's southern state of Tamil Nadu has been completed. It also issued a licence for the regular operation of unit 1 and a siting permit for a project to build four reactors in Gorakhpur in Haryana.

NuGen acquires land for Moorside project

Russia disputes criticism of its role in Ukrainian projects
Rosatom has rejected Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk's claim that the Russian company failed to honour agreements on construction of a nuclear fuel fabrication facility and completion of units 3 and 4 at Khmelnitsky nuclear power plant.

Major module installed at Summer 3
The module that will house the reactor pressure vessel of the second AP1000 unit under construction at the VC Summer site in South Carolina has been installed. Meanwhile, the reactor vessel itself has been delivered to the site.
