NRC sets seismic priorities
The US Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) has drawn up a list of 21 reactor sites in central and eastern USA that must carry out in-depth analyses of updated earthquake risks as a matter of priority. The regulator says that all are considered safe for continued operation in the meantime.

Test anomalies trigger early outages at Belgian units
Belgian utility Electrabel has brought forward planned outages for units at its Tihange and Doel plants after additional tests on hydrogen flakes suggested these may affect the mechanical properties of their reactor vessels.

Hamaoka 4 seeks restart approval
Chubu Electric Power Company has requested a safety review by Japan's nuclear regulator of unit 4 at its Hamaoka plant in Shizuoka prefecture. It becomes the seventeenth Japanese reactor to seek permission to restart.
