Global Laser Enrichment will enter talks with the US Department of Energy after its proposal to build and operate a laser enrichment facility at shut down Paducah plant was selected. Off-specification inventory will be processed by Areva.

Chicago turns on to clean energy
US utility Constellation has signed a contract tosupply Chicago with electricity for its municipal facilities and street lighting. A mix of nuclear, gas, wind and solar will reduce emissions by 99.5%.

Suppliers raise Olkiluoto 3 damages claim
The Areva-Siemens consortium has increased its claim against Finnish utility Teollisuuden Voima Oyj (TVO) to €2.7 billion ($3.7 billion) in relation to the delay and cost overruns of the Olkiluoto EPR.

Areva JV to develop Mongolian mines
French nuclear company Areva has signed an agreement to develop uranium mines in Mongolia and to set up a joint venture company with Mongolian state-owned company MonAtom, with Mitsubishi Corporation as an equity partner.

TVEL signs billion-dollar Tianwan fuel contract
Russian nuclear fuel manufacturer TVEL has signed a long-term contract to supply fuel for the second stage of China's Tianwan nuclear power plant, plus equipment to enable China's Yibin fabrication plant to manufacture fuel for Tianwan in future.
