Reactor restarts pivotal to Japan's energy policy, says IEA

Achieving 1000 GWe of new capacity by 2050
The nuclear industry can achieve the momentum required to create an additional 1000 GWe of new capacity by 2050, Agneta Rising, director general of the World Nuclear Association, said yesterday. This target is essential, she said, if the world is to ensure the International Energy Agency's 2 Degree Scenario on climate change.

Low emissions from Canadian uranium mining

UK academics join pro-Hinkley nuclear project debate

UK's new premier axes Department of Energy and Climate Change
The UK's Department of Energy and Climate Change has been scrapped and its brief folded into the newly created Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy department. The formation of BEIS, which was announced yesterday following Theresa May's appointment as the new British Prime Minister, adds energy-related matters to the remit of its predecessor the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills.
