The first batch of uranium mined at the Eastern Mining and Enrichment Plant in Ukraine has been sent to Canada where it will be converted into natural uranium hexafluoride as part of the company's agreement with Cameco.

Ukraine's Energoatom and the US firm Westinghouse have signed a memorandum of understanding relating to the development and deployment of AP300 small modular reactors in Ukraine.

Westinghouse fuel has been loaded into a VVER-440 reactor for the first time, at Ukraine's Rivne nuclear power plant.

Energoatom and ConverDyn have signed a confidentiality agreement and memorandum of understanding relating to uranium conversion which the Ukrainian company says can help the country towards a complete fuel cycle.

Meanwhile the International Atomic Energy Agency reports it has seen "directional anti-personnel mines on the periphery of the site".
