USA's first big commercial reactor segmentation with oxy-propane completed
EnergySolutions announced yesterday the successful completion of the first large commercial reactor vessel segmentation in the USA. ZionSolutions, a wholly owned subsidiary of EnergySolutions, completed the segmentation of the reactor vessel of unit 2 of Zion nuclear power plant in late June.

Vattenfall prepares for shutdown of Ringhals units
Vattenfall is preparing for the decommissioning of units 1 and 2 of the Ringhals nuclear power plant in Sweden. The company - which owns a majority stake in the plant - announced its intention in late April to close the two units by 2020.

USA's Experimental Breeder Reactor-II now permanently entombed

Grafenrheinfeld ends electricity production
The single-unit Grafenrheinfeld nuclear power plant in Germany was disconnected from the grid on 27 June after 33 years of operation. The government had ordered the plant to close by the end of this year as part of the country's energy transition.

EOn supports early closure of Oskarshamn units
Unit 2 of the Oskarshamn nuclear power plant in Sweden would close by 2020, with unit 1 shutting between 2017 and 2019, under a proposal announced today by majority owner EOn. Minority owner Fortum opposes the early shutdown of the units.
