Canadian government approves overseas ownership
The Canadian government has approved Australian majority ownership of the proposed Michelin uranium mine, in an exception to Canadian legislation on overseas ownership in commercial mining operations.

Rosgeologia signs cooperation agreement with Rosatom
Rosgeologia, the Russian state-run geological exploration services company, last week signed a series of agreements aimed at expanding its operations. The agreements were signed on 19 June by Rosgeologia CEO Roman Panov and officials from Rosatom, VTB Bank, the Russian Direct Investment Fund, the Russian Energy Ministry, the Murmansk region, the Russian State Geological Prospecting University and the Russian Academy of Sciences' institute for the integrated development of subsoil, during the Saint Petersburg Economic Forum last week.

EBRD launches uranium mining legacy fund
A new fund set up by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) at the request of the European Commission will finance projects to rehabilitate former uranium mines and processing sites in Central Asia.

Ranger expansion on hold

The Ranger 3 Deeps uranium project will not proceed to a final feasibility study under the current operating environment, Energy Resources of Australia (ERA) announced today. The decision was driven by market conditions and project economics.

Merger to fast-track Turkish uranium project
A US uranium processing plant could be shipped to Turkey to fast-track uranium production under a newly announced merger of Uranium Resources Inc with Australian uranium and exploration company Anatolia Energy, owner of the Temrezli uranium project.

Uranium Resources agrees to New Mexico sales to Energy Fuels
Uranium Resources has entered into a letter of intent with Energy Fuels for the purchase and exchange of certain uranium properties in New Mexico. Under the LOI, Uranium Resources has agreed to transfer ownership of its Roca Honda project.

Russian parliament outlines state support for U mining
The agrarian committee of Russia's Federation Council has approved measures aimed at providing state incentives to the country's uranium mining industry, Atomredmetzoloto (ARMZ), the uranium mining arm of state nuclear corporation Rosatom, said yesterday. The Federation Council is the upper chamber of the Federal Assembly, the upper house of the Russian parliament.
