Ablation technology agreed for Pinon Ridge uranium mill
Western Uranium Corporation has signed a letter of intent with Pinon Ridge Corporation to use its ablation mining technology at uranium recovery facilities at the Pinon Ridge mill site in Colorado. The technology is currently being assessed by state regulators.

New contract for US uranium mill
US uranium producer Energy Fuels Inc has entered into a contract to secure additional quantities of a uranium-bearing alternate feed material for its White Mesa mill in Utah, the company announced today.

Low emissions from Canadian uranium mining
Uranium mining and milling contribute only a small amount to nuclear energy's already low greenhouse gas emissions, the first comprehensive life cycle assessment of greenhouse gas emissions produced from Canadian uranium mining operations has found.

EPA approval for Wiluna expansion

Rio Tinto buys into Eclipse uranium project
Rio Tinto will fund up to AUD5 million ($3.8 million) in exploration expenditure to earn a 90% stake in one of Eclipse Metals' uranium projects in Australia's Northern Territory. It will also have right of first refusal over various other Eclipse uranium tenements in the state.

US quarterly uranium production up
The US produced more uranium in the second quarter of 2016 than in the first, according to the latest update from the US Energy Information Administration (EIA). Production for the first half of 2016 remained lower than the same period in 2015.

Areva disappointed with Kiggavik decision
Areva Resources Canada said it is "very disappointed" with a decision by Canadian ministers not to approve the proposed Kiggavik uranium project. The project has been placed in in care and maintenance while the company considers its next steps.

Canadian government upholds Kiggavik recommendation
The Canadian government has agreed with a 2015 recommendation by the Nunavut Impact Review Board that the Kiggavik uranium project should not proceed at this time, but said proponent Areva Resources Canada may resubmit the project for consideration in the future.
