Kansai seeks operating life extension for Takahama units
Kansai Electric Power has announced it will apply for regulatory approval to extend the operating life of Takahama units 3 and 4 by a further 20 years. The company has also announced plans to replace the steam generators at the two pressurised water reactor units.

Peninsula Energy to restart Wyoming uranium operation

December seen as earliest date for OL3 restart
Olkiluoto 3 will not resume producing electricity before December "at the earliest", TVO has said. Commissioning of the EPR in Finland was interrupted in October following the discovery of cracks in feedwater pumps.

Federal funding for Diablo Canyon but not for Palisades
The Diablo Canyon nuclear power plant has been selected by the US Department of Energy to receive credits worth up to USD1.1 billion to enable the two-unit plant to remain in operation. But Holtec International's application for federal funding to allow it to restart the Palisades nuclear power plant has been unsuccessful.

IAEA assesses operational safety at Korean APR-1400 units
A team of International Atomic Energy Agency experts has completed a mission to Saeul units 1 and 2 (formerly Shin Kori 3 and 4) in South Korea, marking the IAEA's first operational safety inspection in the country for the APR-1400-type reactor.

Two more Ukrainian nuclear plants suffer power supply issues
The Khmelnitsky nuclear power plant had to rely on emergency diesel generators after losing its grid connection for nine hours, and the Rivne plant had to temporarily reduce its power output after losing connection to one of its 750 kV power lines, the International Atomic Energy Agency has reported.
