A ceremony to mark the start of construction of a new uranium mining complex was held at Jang-e Sar in north-western Iran.

Atomic Energy Organization of Iran head Mohammad Eslami said the country is looking to increase its nuclear power generation capacity to 20 GWe. The country's first nuclear power plant, Bushehr, has now generated more than 60 billion kilowatt-hours, he told a parliamentary council.
 

Iran has agreed to enhanced cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency as it carries out its verification and monitoring activities, including the reinstallation of monitoring cameras, following a visit by IAEA Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi to the Islamic Republic.

France, Germany, the UK and the USA have called on Iran to comply with all its legally-binding international obligations under its Comprehensive Safeguards Agreement after the International Atomic Energy Agency reported changes to the configuration of centrifuges at Iran's Fordow plant.

Negotiations to address outstanding nuclear verification issues in Iran have so far been inconclusive, IAEA Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi said yesterday. Negotiations among parties to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action - Iran and five world powers - are expected to resume in Vienna next week.

International Atomic Energy Agency Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi has informed the agency's Board of Governors that Iran intends to use indigenously-produced uranium enriched up to 20% U-235 in the manufacture of fuel for the Tehran Research Reactor, an IAEA spokesperson told World Nuclear News today. In doing so, as part of a multi-stage process, Iran will also produce uranium metal enriched up to 20% U-235.
