Dynamic contracted for ITER Tokamak Assembly
The ITER International Fusion Energy Organisation has awarded a EUR200 million (USD218 million) contract for the Tokamak Assembly to Dynamic. The operation will mostly be performed at the ITER site in Cadarache, France with the engineering and manufacturing support of Dynamic's founding companies - Ansaldo Nucleare, Endel Engie, Orys Group ORTEC, SIMIC, Leading and Ansaldo Energia.

UK to abolish visa caps for leading scientists
The UK plans to make it easier for scientists from overseas to work and live in the country following its departure from the European Union. Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced the "fast-track visa route" during his visit yesterday to the Culham Science Centre in Oxfordshire, England.

IAEA, ITER expand cooperation on fusion
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and the ITER International Fusion Energy Organisation are to enhance their cooperation in nuclear fusion research and related activities following the signing of an agreement that expands one signed in 2008.

UK fusion scientists secure new funding despite Brexit
The UK and the European Commission signed a contract extension today for the world’s largest fusion research facility, Joint European Torus. The extension secures at least EUR100 million (USD112 million) in additional inward investment from the EU over the next two years and "brings reassurance" for the more than 500 staff at the site in Culham, near Oxford, the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy said.

NRG irradiates steel alloy for use in ITER
The Nuclear Research and Consultancy Group (NRG) of the Netherlands has completed the irradiation testing in the High Flux Reactor of a new type of metal that will be used in a test programme of the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor.

The US Department of Energy's Oak Ridge National Laboratory has announced six new collaborations with industry on projects to advance commercial nuclear energy technologies. Fusion reactions project attracts UK funding

ST40 achieves 15-million-degree target
Tokamak Energy announced today that it has achieved plasma temperatures of over 15 million degrees Celsius, hotter than the centre of the Sun. The Oxford, England-based company turned on its ST40 reactor for the first time in April 2017.
