The concreting of the outer containment building of unit 1 of the Rooppur nuclear power plant in Bangladesh has been completed in 110 days, 45 days ahead of schedule, Rosatom has said.

The completion of the main internal structure of the reactor building for the ACP100 small modular reactor demonstration project at the Changjiang nuclear power plant has been announced by China National Nuclear Corporation.

Energy minister Viktor Karankevich has said the aim is for the second unit of the Belarusian nuclear power plant to be put into commercial operation in October 2023.

Assembly has begun for the prototype of the main circulation pump unit for the lead-cooled fast neutron reactor BREST-OD-300 being built in Russia.

Rosatom's Director General Alexei Likhachev said, after talks with Turkey's energy minister Fatih Dönmez, that nuclear fuel would be delivered to Akkuyu this spring, with construction to be completed in the third quarter and then "proceed to commissioning".

Bangladesh's ambassador in Moscow was summoned to the Russian Foreign Ministry after "several dozen" Russian vessels were banned from calling at ports in Bangladesh, including at least one ship carrying equipment for the Rooppur nuclear power plant under construction.

The inner dome of the containment building has been installed at unit 3 of the Changjiang nuclear power plant in China's Hainan province, China National Nuclear Corporation announced. Units 3 and 4 of the plant - both featuring Hualong One reactors - are scheduled to be fully operational in early 2027.

The outer steel dome has been installed at unit 1 of the Zhangzhou nuclear power plant in China's Fujian province, China Nuclear Engineering and Construction Corporation  announced. Zhangzhou 1 is the first of two Hualong One units being built at the site, scheduled to enter commercial operation in 2024 and 2025, respectively.

Southern Company CEO Tom Fanning said more time has been built into the schedules for both units to allow for unexpected issues, with unit 3 now expected to enter service in May or June and unit 4 at the end of this year or early in 2024.

The reactor internals - including a 10-metre internal shaft, a baffle and a block of protective pipes - have been delivered to the construction site of the first power unit at Kursk II in western Russia.

Updated Tuesday 10:30 GMT: There have been no reports of damage to the Akkuyu nuclear power plant after two large earthquakes struck Turkey. Following safety checks, construction is continuing, the project team says.

A test link-up to the grid of the second unit at Belarus's nuclear power plant in Ostrovets is scheduled for March or April, according to the country's deputy energy minister Mikhail Mikhadyuk.
