NuScale, KGHM agree to deploy SMRs in Poland
NuScale Power and the Polish copper and silver producer KGHM Polska Miedź SA have signed a definitive agreement to initiate work towards deploying a first NuScale VOYGR small modular reactor power plant in Poland.

Czech, Slovak firms cooperate on plant long-term operation
Czech utility ČEZ and Slovak radioactive waste management company JAVYS have extended their cooperation by signing a Memorandum of Cooperation to collaborate on the management of aging equipment and the reduction in volume of waste in nuclear power plants.

US, Japanese firms agree to cooperate on fast reactors
The Japan Atomic Energy Agency, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Mitsubishi FBR Systems have signed a Memorandum of Understanding with TerraPower of the USA to cooperate on the development of sodium-cooled fast reactors. TerraPower - founded by Bill Gates - is developing the Natrium sodium-cooled fast reactor.

Nuclear liability protocols ratified to strengthen compensation rights
Protocols to amend two international instruments strengthening the rights to compensation for those affected by nuclear energy accidents have been formally ratified and will enter into force on 1 January.

Collaboration for Polish deployment of BWRX-300
GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy, BWXT Canada and Poland's Synthos Green Energy yesterday signed a Letter of Intent to cooperate in deploying BWRX-300 small modular reactors in Poland. SGE, together with its partners, plans to deploy at least 10 BWRX-300 SMRs in Poland by the early 2030s.

KHNP to cooperate with US nuclear utility cooperative
Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power has signed an agreement with US cooperative the Utilities Service Alliance - also known as USA - to cooperate in the development of innovative solutions to enhance nuclear power plant safety and performance within the Alliance's fleet and in the broader international commercial nuclear power industry.

Nuclear technology centre planned for Serbia
Rosatom has signed a framework agreement with the government of Serbia to build a nuclear technology centre in the country, including a cyclotron for medical isotope production. It comes as part of a growing trend of Serbian interest in nuclear.

Polish joint venture to commercialise SMRs
Polish companies Synthos Green Energy and PKN Orlen have signed an investment agreement to establish a joint venture for the deployment of a small modular reactor fleet in Poland. The Orlen Synthos Green Energy joint venture will commercialise micro modular reactor and SMR technology, in particular GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy's BWRX-300.

Sheffield Forgemasters to supply Rolls-Royce SMR forgings
A Memorandum of Understanding has been signed between Rolls-Royce SMR Limited and Sheffield Forgemasters to jointly explore commercial mechanisms for a long-term collaboration on the supply of forgings to the Rolls-Royce UK small modular reactor fleet. A Rolls-Royce-led UK SMR consortium aims to build up to 10 SMRs by 2035.

Framatome and Rosatom expand cooperation
France's Framatome and Russian state nuclear corporation Rosatom have signed a new strategic cooperation agreement further expanding the companies' efforts to develop fuel fabrication and instrumentation and control technologies. The new agreement expands the companies' existing relationship, established through a 2017 Memorandum of Understanding, creating a framework for joint work in new areas.

NuScale teams up with Prodigy and Kinectrics for MPS deployment
NuScale Power, Prodigy Clean Energy and Kinectrics have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to explore and inform the development of a regulatory framework to address licensing and deployment of a Prodigy Marine Power Station. The MPS would integrate up to 12 NuScale Power Modules into a marine-based nuclear power plant system.
