Egypt's Nuclear Power Plants Authority has been granted a licence by the country's nuclear regulator for the construction of the fourth and final unit at the El Dabaa nuclear power plant. Construction of unit 4 is scheduled to begin by the end of this year.

The first safety-related concrete has been poured for the nuclear island of the unit 6 HPR1000 (Hualong One) at the Lufeng nuclear power plant in China's Guangdong province. It is the second HPR1000 under construction at the site, where four CAP1000s are also planned.

Atomic Energy Organization of Iran head Mohammad Eslami said the country is looking to increase its nuclear power generation capacity to 20 GWe. The country's first nuclear power plant, Bushehr, has now generated more than 60 billion kilowatt-hours, he told a parliamentary council.

Pakistan's Executive Committee of the National Economic Council has formally given its approval to the project to build unit 5 of the Chashma nuclear power plant, two weeks after Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif took part in a ground-breaking ceremony for the reactor.

The dome has been hoisted into place on the reactor building of Xudapu unit 3 in a single stage process, six months ahead of schedule, with China National Nuclear Corporation describing the project as "a model of global energy cooperation".
